Space is the area around and inside shapes. It includes both the main objects, called positive space, and the background, or negative space. Notan is a Japanese art style that focuses on finding balance between light and dark shapes. In my piece, I used black and white to create strong contrast and help the designs stand out. I chose bold shapes like a dragon, wings, and a symbol, and started by sketching them out. Then, I turned them into black-and-white designs so they would pop against each other. I arranged everything around a black square to make the contrast even stronger. My goal was to show how dark and light areas can work together, and I hope people notice how the different shapes feel balanced and connected.
